Many clients tell me this is different from therapy they’ve tried before - and that difference matters.

First, I'm eager to get us started on the path to finding meaningful, realistic, and personalized solutions for the concerns you're facing. I certainly want to understand your problems and what it is like for you to experience them, but I know my real job is to work with you to find the solutions to these problems. This doesn’t mean I give unsolicited advice as if I’m the expert on how you should live, love, or be; I am here to collaborate with you to find what works in your unique life.

Second, I am a big believer in feedback throughout therapy, by which I mean I'm always eager to hear what is and is not working during our time together. Therapy is not “one-size-fits-all,” and so finding the right custom fit for you will necessarily take some degree of experimentation. With that in mind, your input is extremely valuable at all stages of therapy!

Third, I know starting with a new therapist can be a bit daunting for some, and that’s alright.  I do strive to keep this an even-handed, conversational, and productive therapeutic relationship at every turn by remaining open, empathic, available, and non-judgmental.  During our time together, it will always be OK to be you.
